Chairman’s Letter 2011
Yes, you did read the date correctly!
Our Chairman at the time (currently our Treasurer) John Wanford, is known for his rhyming skills. He recently shared this with the committee and their partners at our annual start of the year social lunch and I thought it would be a fun thing to add to the website.
I also wonder how many members can stretch their minds back and remember John’s rhyming report of 2011? Do let us know – he’ll be at the Seed Swap on February 21st so you could tell him then.
When I look back year on year, One thing stands out very clear,
Each Chairman’s Letter is the same, and there’s no-one else I can blame.
This year the style is amended, I do hope you’ll not be offended.
The Society is doing well you can see,
With due thanks to the Committee.
In this schedule the middle pages list, The events that should not be missed.
The usual Shows will be taking place – look forward to seeing your face,
Alongside local gentry, Remember your entry, Let’s see if you are up to the pace.
We are hoping the best class by far , Will be entries for our calendar,
So we ask of you, Find a good local view, And snap it with your camera.*
Our speakers are varied this year, And so I can say without fear,
There’ll be something for you, Hopefully a few, And the Trade Table is always here.
I know we are all busy lizzies, but please come along to the quizzes.
Book early for our outings , To save disappointed poutings, And remember to book for the missus…
The ads that you see as you read, Are part of our financial feed,
And so we ought, Give our support – I do hope you’ll follow my lead.
Whatever it is that you grow , We hope that you reap what you sow
Prick out your seedlings and pick out your weedlings, And bring your success to the Show……
Normal service will be resumed in time for our 90th Anniversary Year – 2012.
Enjoy your garden, John.
*No calendar for 2026, but do snap away as there may be one in 2027! And there’s always a Photography Class in the Flower Shows
