Advice for Exhibitors for the Biggin Hill & District Horticultural Society – a check list of things to take and how to present your exhibits.
Also read through the general Show Rules, plus the Show Schedule and the Exhibition Class descriptions for each category for the show in which you are planning to exhibit.
– Take materials for arranging flowers in containers i.e. moss, paper etc.
– Take secateurs / scissors / knife as necessary
– Take extra blooms and vegetables in case of damage
– Make sure the containers have sufficient water
– Wash clean all root vegetables
– Reduce foliage on beet, carrot, cabbage, cauliflower and parsnips to 76mm (3”)
– Name varieties where appropriate
– Cucumbers should be shown with flowers still adhering if possible
– Do not overdress onions – remover outer skin only
– Do not exhibit peas and beans without stalks
– Do not polish apples, pears or stone fruit
– Do not exhibit stone and soft fruit without stalks
– Do not exhibit apples and pears without stalks
